Wedding Ceremonies
Your wedding day is one of the most memorable days of your lives.

Your wedding day is very important not only to yourself and your fiancé but also to your family, your fiancé’s family, and your greater circle of family and friends.

Preparing For Your Wedding Day
Let me inform you on the key legal aspects in the preparation of your wedding day.

In Australia, you must be at least eighteen (18) years of age to marry. Marriage of any person under eighteen (18) years without an order of a judge or magistrate is invalid.

You are required to give me notice of your future wedding day by completing the Notice of Intended Marriage (NIM) form and submitting it to me no less than one (1) calendar month and one (1) day before your wedding day, and no more than eighteen (18) months prior to your wedding day.

If you are Australian born then you must show me your original birth certificate. If you are unable to locate your birth certificate then you can apply for a replacement birth certificate from the NSW Registry of Births Deaths & Marriages or the local authority in your State.

If you are born overseas then you must show me your original birth certificate and passport from your country of birth. If you are unable to provide me your birth certificate or passport then we can discuss further.

If you have been previously married then you must show me evidence of how your marriage terminated such as a Divorce Decree Absolute or a Death Certificate of your previous spouse.
